Son accused of taking mom's TV and using her debit card
DONEGAL TWP — An alleged drug addict is jailed on charges he stole his mother’s $500 television and sold it.
He also is accused of taking her bank debit card and using it to drain $200 from her account.
State police on Tuesday arrested Michael J. Zaludek, 26, of Donegal Township for the suspected crimes last month.
District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Zaludek on misdemeanor counts of theft and access device fraud. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bond following arraignment.
The defendant’s mother notified police Tuesday after her son admitted taking the 52-inch RCA flat-screen television from her home and later selling it, according to court documents.
She said he also acknowledged having previously used her ATM card at a store in Petrolia to steal money from her bank account.
“(The victim) advised that the defendant is a known heroin user and has stolen from her several times in the past,” according to a police affidavit.
Because of his addiction, she told police, she has tried to hide her debit cards from him. But he keeps finding and using the cards without her permission.
Zaludek’s preliminary hearing is Oct. 6 at Stoughton’s office in Chicora.
