PARKER — About 2,600 members of the Parker-based Central Electric Cooperative lost power for several hours Thursday, starting about 2:15 p.m.

Outages occurred in Marion, Mercer and Venango townships in Butler County and in Clinton, French Creek, Irwin, Mineral and Scrubgrass townships in Venango County.

Central Electric crews discovered that a bird caused the problem.

Power was restored later that afternoon.

CRANBERRY TWP — Road safety improvements began Thursday at the intersection of Unionville and Graham School roads to realign the curve on Unionville to the north, according to a news release from the township.One lane of traffic will be maintained on both roads at all times, the release states. All work will be completed in the township right of way.Youngblood Paving expects to complete the work by Oct, 30.Unionville will be repaved from Graham School to Glen Eden when the project is completed.Another project recently completed widened Unionville Road at the approach to Glen Eden Road and also improved drainage in that area.
