Pansy Louise Conger Dinwiddie
Pansy Louise Conger Dinwiddie, 95, passed away Thursday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Mrs. Dinwiddie was born Oct. 11, 1919, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Lester and Aretta Conger.
Mrs. Dinwiddie graduated from St. Joseph High School and continued her education at Missouri Western, where she received a teaching Certificate. She taught the next two years in a rural school in the St. Joseph area.
She then enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked in Washington, D.C., for the remainder of World War II.
Mrs. Dinwiddie returned to college at Butler University and finished her bachelor's degree. She was a first grade teacher for Washington Township Schools on the north side of Indianapolis, Ind., for over 30 years and an active member of ISTA/NEA, and Delta Kappa Gamma. While teaching, she completed her master's degree at Indiana State University.
After retiring, Mrs. Dinwiddie returned to St. Joseph for many years to take care of her father, she then spent 18 years in New Mexico, first in Hobbs and then in Santa Fe to be near her son. In August 2009 she moved to Saxonburg to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Dinwiddie is survived by her son, Robert S. Dinwiddie Jr. and his wife, Sally, of Ilfeld, N.M., and her daughter, Mary Papik and her husband, Ronald, of Valencia.
She also had two grandchildren, Sheila Dinwiddie of Carlsbad, N.M., and Christopher Papik and his wife, Shelly, of Valencia; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Taylor and Dakota Brewer of Carlsbad, N.M., and Noelle Papik of Valencia.
She is also survived by one brother, Benton Conger of Modesto, Calif.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lester A. Conger Jr., and two sisters, Averil Cochran and Marjorie Dinwiddie.
