59-house development discussed in Cranberry

Plan presented to twp. planners

CRANBERRY TWP — Township planners are considering a 59-house development in the eastern part of the township.

The township Planning Advisory Commission was presented with the tentative planned residential development called Forest Edge at its meeting Monday night.

Community Development Director Ron Henshaw said the development would be located on Hope Road on 65 acres.

“This is currently farmland and an old homestead right now,” he said.

The developer is Singer Construction of Mars.

The developer has started the tentative approval process, Henshaw said, and has yet to select a company to build the homes.

Monday night was the developer's first time at the commission with this project, Henshaw said.

“We are all about families, so building single family homes is great,” Henshaw said. “More folks moving here just adds to our whole plan for not just that particular area, but the township in general. This is a great development. We are very excited to see them moving forward with this project.”

Henshaw said the development will have a sidewalk system on both sides of the street. There are some possible trail connections that are being worked on and some possible trails for the future.

Singer has proposed a pavilion that can be used as a bus stop and double as a feature for homeowners association events.

The planning commission delayed action on the plan to get more information.

“There are a few things that need to be cleaned up before we move it along,” Henshaw said.
