Lyndora Hotel back in family
LYNDORA — An iconic restaurant and bar is back under the control of its founding family, which plans to make broad upgrades to the business’ menu and interior.
“We want (the Lyndora Hotel) to be restored to a place where people can bring their families and children, get a good meal at a reasonable price and enjoy a good, clean environment,” said Michael Pawk, an attorney and one of four family members taking back daily control of the business.
The hotel, which has been run as a bar and restaurant for more than 20 years, was built in 1902 by Pawk’s grandfather, Mike, who operated it as a full-service hotel until his death in 1984. Pawk’s father, who also is named Michael, then ran the business for more than two decades.
The business’ former operator, Harry Koch, took over running the hotel in 2007. The Pawk family retained ownership of the property and the business’ liquor license, Pawk said. He and three siblings, Laura Santora, Matthew Pawk and Michele Pawk, now will be overseeing the business’ daily operations.
Pawk said the family plans to renovate some areas of the restaurant and bar area and eventually open the building’s second floor for events like live bands and DJs.
Some upgrades to the business’ bar and kitchen already have been made, Pawk said.
None of the work will close the hotel.
Pawk said the family also plans to “streamline” the restaurant’s menu.
“There were too many things,” he said. “We’re going back to what they’ve traditionally done.”
