2 injured in head-on crash in Butler Twp.
BUTLER TWP — A head-on crash on Saxonburg Road on Monday morning sent two people to the hospital and one of the vehicles into a cornfield.
Police said a Pontiac G6 — driven by Gage Hicks, 23, of Saxonburg — was traveling north on the road at 8:46 a.m. when Hicks lost control and collided head-on with a Hyundai Sonata traveling south, near the road's intersection with Bullcreek Road.
The crash injured both drivers, who were alone in their vehicles, police said. The crash sent Hicks' vehicle down a hillside.
Hicks was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital complaining of head and knee pain, police said. Kim Duchess-Hilton, 58, of McDonald, who drove the Hyundai, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. She later was taken by helicopter to a hospital near Pittsburgh, said Butler Township Police Chief John Hays.
Police said the force of the impact spun the Hyundai around and caused it to hit a third vehicle, a red Chevrolet Impala which was carrying two people. No one in that vehicle was injured, police said.
The crash closed down much of Saxonburg Road for about an hour Monday morning.
