John P. “Jay” Edinger Jr.

John P. “Jay” Edinger Jr., 42, of Butler passed away Monday at Allegheny General Hospital, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born July 11, 1973, in Butler, he was a son of John P. Edinger Sr. and Olga S. (Pelech) Edinger.

Jay graduated from Butler High School, where he played football. He even played a playoff game in Three Rivers Stadium. He worked as an ironworker for the Union Local 3 in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the sons of the Legion 778 in Lyndora. He was proud of his Ukrainian Catholic Faith, enjoyed welding, crossword puzzles and was a talented mason and bricklayer. He was skilled in many trades. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, most of all following the Steelers and had loved children and many animals, especially dogs.

Surviving are his wife, Diana L. DeBacco, who he married in September of 2014; his parents, John and Olga Edinger of Butler; his grandmother, Betty Edinger of Butler; and his son, Kain Michaels.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jaroslaw and Ksenia Pelech; and also his paternal grandfather, James Edinger.

EDINGER — Friends of John P. “Jay” Edinger Jr., who died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
