Roger J. Cuckler, 65, of Harrisville passed away Aug. 18 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

A son of the late Sidney Keith Cuckler and Lucille Parks Cuckler, he was born March 30, 1950, in Canton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, Pa., and received his bachelor's degree from Columbia Union College in 1972.

A love of science, math and history and a passion for sharing his interests influenced him to become a teacher. He later became an insurance agent.

On Sept. 16, 1979, he married the former Heather Lycette. She died May 31, 2015.

Surviving are his son, Justin R. Cuckler of Harrisville; his daughter, Laura A. Elliott of New Castle; and one grandson, Hunter R. Elliott.

Also surviving are his mother, Lucille, of Mercer; and two brothers, Brett Cuckler of Oakmont and Greg Cuckler of Gibsonia.
