Helen E. Dillaman Montgomery

Helen E. Dillaman Montgomery, 97, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Trinity Living Center in Grove City.

Born on Aug. 14, 1918, in Boyers, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Elmira Barger Dillaman.

Helen worked at the former Plastics Co. in Franklin during World War II. Later in her life, she was well known as a waitress at the Emlenton Plaza for a number of years as well as at the former Foxburg Cafe.

She was married in 1938 to the late Joseph D. Montgomery, who passed in 1997.

Helen was active in her community where she was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire and a member and officer of Paul W. Wood VFW and an officer of County Council for VFW. She was a Lady Rebakah at Hilliards and later of Butler.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Petrone of Monroeville and Carol J. (John) Mayes of Kennerdale; one son, William (Judy) Montgomery of Eau Claire; and one daughter-in-law, Pearl Montgomery of Eau Claire.

She also is survived by nine grandchildren; a number of great- and step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was the last surviving member of her eight brothers and sisters. In addition to her husband, siblings and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Robert D. Montgomery, who passed in 2003, and one granddaughter, Amy Sue Kline.

MONTGOMERY — Friends of Helen E. Dillaman Montgomery, who died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire.Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire.The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
