Albert “Sonny” Geibel

Albert “Sonny” Geibel, 79, of Cabot passed away Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born Sept. 24, 1935, in Marwood, Pa., he was the son of Andrew C. Geibel and Anna E. Fredrick Geibel.

Al served in the U.S. Army.

Al was a self-employed carpenter, having worked at many Saxonburg area businesses and homes and also worked for John Allen at Armstrong Farms.

Al was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of Sarver Vets Club and Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Co.

Surviving are his fiancee, Terry Edwards of Cabot; stepsons, David (Donna) Edwards of Worthington, Mark Edwards of Cabot, Bruce (Karen) Edwards of Ellwood City and James (Nicole) Edwards of Saxonburg; his grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Edwards Jr. of Pittsburgh, Mark Edwards Jr. of Butler, Kayla Edwards of Saxonburg and Tyler Edwards of Saxonburg; his great-grandchildren, Rylan Edwards, David Edwards III and Rory Edwards; his siblings, Dorothy Matthews of Butler, Bettie McCollough of Butler, Elsie Hemphill of Tarentum, Raymond Geibel of New Castle, John Geibel of Cabot, Robert Geibel of Cabot, Mary (Robert) Ortz of Cabot, Mildred (Richard) Leipertz of Lower Burrell, Delores (Chuck) Seelbaugh of Valencia and Marian Geibel of California; his sister-in-law, Janet (Donald) Beggs of Butler; and his brother-in-law, Charles Hostetler of Cabot. He is also survived by his sidekick dog, Buddy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Donald Edwards; three brothers, Andrew Geibel, Donald Geibel and Paul Geibel; and two sisters, Leona Hostetler and Esther Marburger.

GEIBEL — Friends of Albert “Sonny” Geibel, who died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, will be received from noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Services will follow at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev.
