Robert Paul Batty Jr.
Robert Paul Batty Jr., 93, of Butler passed away Wednesday while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit in Butler.
Born July 15, 1922, on the North Side of Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert P. and Mildred (Thomas) Batty.
Robert proudly served his country during World War II as a corporal T-5 from February 1943 to December 1945.
He attended Conley Trade School in Pittsburgh and completed the EMT course taught by Passavant Hospital. He also participated in a continuing medical education course in trauma for surgical and medical emergencies from the John Hopkins Medical Institute.
Robert was employed by the Lectro-Melt Furnace Co. for 45 years.
He was a member of the Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of several organizations, including the Syria Temple, North Hills Lodge 716 and AARP. During his free time, Robert enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking and Garden trains and railroads.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Edward Paul Batty and his wife, Jean, of Cranberry Township; two daughters, Alice Grace Ketterer and her husband, Walter, of New Sewickley Township and Donna E. Parker and her husband, Russell, of Summit Township; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha (Risch) Batty, who passed away on Oct. 8, 2007, and his two brothers.
BATTY— The family of Robert Paul Batty Jr., who died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.Additional visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Deborah Mentel officiating.
