James E. McClure

James E. McClure, 80, of Butler passed away at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born April 9, 1935, in Petrolia to the late Robert McClure and Margaret (Shakley) McClure.

Mr. McClure was a 1953 graduate of Karns City High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, retiring in 1974 after 21 years of service.

After he left the Navy, he worked at the VA in the supply department for 20 years while also volunteering.

Mr. McClure was a member of the American Legion Post 117. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and also volunteered at VA Butler Healthcare.

Mr. McClure is survived by three children, Eugene L. McClure and his wife, Donna, of Butler, Thomas R. McClure and his wife, Dee, of Virginia and Rebecca A. (McClure) Fizer and her husband, Scott, of Butler; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Patricia McClure of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie (King) McClure, who he married Sept. 20, 1958, and who passed away Jan. 26, 2007; and one daughter, Darlene McClure Davis.

MCCLURE — Friends of James E. McClure, who died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon with the Rev. Tim Goodman, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 in Butler will conduct military honors at the funeral home.Private burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001; to VA Butler Healthcare, 325 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001; or to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
