Michael Lewis

Michael Joseph Lewis, 29, of Butler passed away at 2:39 a.m. Sunday at his home.

He was born July 14, 1986, in Butler, the son of Daniel J. and Karen (Varljen) Lewis of Butler.

Michael was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was a 2004 graduate of Butler High School and Vo-Tech program, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the East Butler Baseball Association. He had many accomplishments in baseball, football and wrestling throughout his youth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. Michael had worked for RMI as a guard at A.K. Steel.

Surviving along with his parents are his daughter, Kayleigh Lewis; his son, Mason Lewis; his fiance, Brandy Armstrong of Butler; his sister, Nicole (Troy) Andres of Butler; his nieces, Madelyn and Savannah Andres; his maternal grandparents, John and Shirley Varljen of Butler; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Irene Lewis; two uncles, Richard A. Lewis and Terry J. Varljen; and one cousin, Michelle Lumley.

LEWIS — Friends of Michael Joseph Lewis, who died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul's Catholic Church, 127 McKean St., Butler.Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help the family with the funeral costs.For more information, visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
