KARNS CITY — The entire Karns City varsity football team will attend the Reality Tour Drug Prevention Program Monday at the Butler YWCA.

The team will board a bus after practice that day to attend the Tour.

Gremlins head coach Ed Conto said that the post-graduation deaths of six former KC football players due to drugs over the years inspired him to have his players do the program.

The Reality Tour shows the wide-ranging affects of drug abuse and educates participants on the danger of drugs.

CANONSBURG — Sean Knapp fired a 103 over 27 holes to win the rain-shortened 30th West Penn Mid-Amateur Championship at Southpointe Golf Club.Knapp of Oakmont Country Club, shot a first-round score of 70 and had carded a 33 through nine holes when weather forced the shortening of the event.

BEREA, Ohio — Terrelle Pryor thought he could make plays and help the Browns win. He won't get the chance.The former Oakland quarterback, who made Cleveland's roster as a wide receiver despite not catching a pass in the preseason, was waived Thursday — three days before the season opener against the New York Jets.It's possible Pryor could land elsewhere, but it will have to be with a team willing to be patient as he polishes his route-running skills.

IRVING, Texas — Suspended Dallas defensive end Greg Hardy won't challenge the NFL in federal court over his four-game ban for his role in a domestic violence case.Hardy said in a statement released through the NFL Players Association that he is “absolutely determined that my issue is not going to be a distraction for the Cowboys.”

PHILADELPHIA — Losing consistently leads to plenty of change.The Philadelphia Phillies fired general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., completing a cycle of turnover for a team going through its worst season in 43 years.Manager Ryne Sandberg already resigned in June and Andy MacPhail was hired to replace outgoing president Pat Gillick after the season.Assistant general manager Scott Proefrock replaces Amaro as interim general manager. MacPhail hopes to hire a new GM before the end of October. He hasn't made a decision on interim manager Pete Mackanin.
