ERIE — Anthony Crivelli crossed a ball in that Penn State Behrend men's soccer teammate Matt Dziadosz headed in for a goal during the Lions' 2-1 loss to SUNY Geneso in the finals of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer tournament.

The Knights rallied with a goal in the first and second half to steal the win.

PITTSBURGH — Duquesne sophomore middle hitter and 2014 Seneca Valley graduate Abby Trzeciak was named to the all-tournament team at the Pitt/Duquesne volleyball tournament.Trzeciak, who transferred to Duquesne from Providence College, is second on the team with 69 kills and first in kill percent.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University football team has moved up to No. 21 on the American Football Coaches Association Division II national rankings this week.The Rock was No. 25 on the preseason poll and opened the season with a 39-13 win Saturday at New Haven (Conn.).

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Cardale Jones was yucking it up on the sideline, mimicking Braxton Miller's spin move and celebrating an Ohio State touchdown.Jones started at quarterback for top-ranked Buckeyes in their 42-24 victory against Virginia Tech on Monday night after winning maybe the most-talked about quarterback competition in college football history. J.T. Barrett, last year's Big Ten player of the year, has been relegated to best backup in the country for now.Jones finished 9 for 18 for 186 yards and two touchdowns and rumbled 99 yards on the ground, including a 10-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter that made it 35-17 for the Buckeyes.

WASHINGTON — New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he expects Matt Harvey won't pitch beyond the “range” of 180 innings in the regular season unless needed in the final series in early October.As for the postseason, Harvey's availability will depend partly on how he's used down the stretch for the NL East leaders. Alderson added the plan is not yet final because he has yet to talk with Harvey's agent, Scott Boras.
