SRU men's, women's soccer teams victorious

The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team had to use two different fields, but yielded the same result for Daeman (N.Y.) College's offense.

No goals.

The Rock blanked Daeman 2-0 Saturday on a game that started at James Egli Field and was pushed to Mihalik-Thompson Stadium after rain forced a two-hour delay and pushed the game toward night time. Egli Field doesn't have lights.

Ryan Lutke and Mike Ilodigwe both registered goals for SRU (2-0).

Women's soccerSRU scored early and cruised to a 7-1 win over Daeman, evening The Rock's record at 1-1.Dara Demich scored off a free kick eight minutes in for The Rock. Demich would add another goal in the second half and set up another goal.Andrea Felix also scored twice and added an assist for SRU.

FootballGrove City College clawed close after digging a 19-point halftime deficit, but lost its 11th straight with a 26-13 non-conference decision to Juniata at Knox Stadium in Huntingdon, Pa.The Wolverines fell behind 19-0 before Tyler Patterson caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Anonio Carroscia with 7 minutes, 57 seconds left in the third quarter.Grove City scored again five minutes later when Carroscia threw a 43-yard score to Brett Pinson. The Wolverines wouldn't get any cloer.Carroscia passed for 250 yards and two scores. Andrew Schauer led Grove City with 39 rushing yards.
