September is sign-up month for many Cub Scouts in Butler County.

The Moraine Trails Council will have 20 sign ups throughout the month, hosted at the packs’ meeting locations. The first three sign-ups are Tuesday at the Concord United Presbyterian Church, West Sunbury, the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, and the Glade Run Presbyterian Church, Valencia.

Irvin Gable, Boy Scout county district director, said the organization likes to recruit Cub Scouts, who are first to fifth graders, during the fall and reserve opportunities for the older Boy Scouts, ages 12 to 17, for the spring.

He said although scouts have specific recruiting time, boys are accepted on a rolling, sign-up basis throughout the year.

Youths can search for their closest pack at www.beascout.com, and information about sign-ups can also be received by calling the Moraine Trails office or visiting its Facebook page.
