Edna Ruth Kriess
Edna “Ruth” Ruth Kriess, 83, of Butler, passed away peacefully Wednesday while under the care of VNA Inpatient Hospice
Born April 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Martha (Boyer) Kirker.
Ruth was a member of St. John's Reformed Church and worked for Kmart. Following her job there, she began working for T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Company and became the first woman supervisor there. Ruth was well-regarded and respected as a hardworking and dedicated employee. She worked there for many years and retired in 1989. Ruth loved to play bingo, listen to music and watch birds.
Ruth was well-known for her delicious pies. She adored her grandchildren and was a dedicated wife and homemaker. Her heart was in her home and family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory three loving children, Fred Kriess Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., Kathy Johns of Dallas, Ga., and Tracy Kriess and her fiance, Drew Allen of Butler; her grandchildren, Stacy (Joshua) Downing of Dallas, Ga., Leather (Joshua) Burchett of Athens, Ga., Danielle Durso and her companion, Asyah Hussin of Butler, Jason (Amber) Kriess, Matthew (Amanda) Kriess, Megan Kriess and Jack Bosancic Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee Downing, Charlie Downing, Ryleigh Kriess, Dylanne Kriess, Brayden Kriess, Finnley Kriess, Rocky Burchett and Keira Burchett; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis Kriess Sr., who passed away Dec. 13, 2010; and one sister and two brothers.
KRIESS — The family of Edna “Ruth” Ruth Kriess, who died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler, with the Rev. Jarrod Crawford officiating.
