Patricia Ann Sawaya, 60, of Slippery Rock left her home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 8:20 a.m. Monday.
Patricia was born in Westbury, N.Y., to the late John and Agnes Stritch.
She attended Nassau Community College and Slippery Rock University from 1972 to 1976, after which she worked for the VA Medical Center in Butler as a physical therapist until 2005. She received a certificate of divinity in 2005 and worked as a chaplain from 2005 to 2012 at the Trinity Living Center of Grove City, the Chicora Medical Center and then from 2012 to 2015 at Jameson Hospice in New Castle.
Patricia was an active member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church in Butler for 27 years. She loved her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. She also loved reading and encouraging others. She loved a sparkling, clean kitchen floors, and she loved having the privilege of being a chaplain for the past 10 years.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Joe Sawaya; her son, Justin Lewis; her sisters, Mary (Steve) Ross and Eileen (John, preceded her in death) Sazama; her brothers, Joseph Stritch, Tom (Kari) Stritch and John (Wendy) Stritch; a number of nephews, nieces; and a great-nephew and great-niece.
SAWAYA — Friends of Patricia Sawaya who died July 20, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Fared Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Richard Jenks, pastor, presiding.A private burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
