Tuesday crash injures 2, closes Rt. 8 temporarily
BUTLER TWP — Two women were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon with injuries after a three-vehicle accident on Route 8.
The drivers of a silver Suzuki SX4 and a black Ford sedan, both female, were taken to the hospital by Butler Ambulance Service after they collided about 4:15 p.m. A white Ford pickup truck also was damaged in the accident, though the driver was unharmed. None of the vehicles had passengers.
Officer David Tedeski of the township police said the cause of the accident is under investigation, but that one vehicle was traveling north, one was traveling south and one was turning onto Route 8 from Cooledge Street.
Route 8 was reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for about 45 minutes while all three vehicles were towed.
Butler Township Fire District also responded to the crash.
