Butler Health System ending maternal service
Butler Health System’s maternal service program will be incorporated into other OB/GYN services in October.
The program was created in April 1990 to help meet the needs of pregnant women who were uninsured or underinsured and at times not receiving prenatal care. The program offers nutrition counseling, wellness checkups, and prenatal monitoring.
The system is phasing the program out Sept. 30 because the services are duplicated in the system. Now these same services are offered through Butler Memorial Hospital, Advanced OB/GYN Associates and BHS Women’s Care Associates.
The hospital will continue to aid women without insurance through guidance in applying for government medical assistance and/or support through the Charity Care program.
Patients in the program who are newly pregnant or who will deliver after Sept. 30 can choose one of the two obstetrics programs.
Locations for Advanced OB/GYN Associates are 901 E. Brady St., Butler, 2001 Ehrman Road Suite A, Cranberry Township, and 100 Innovation Dr. in Slippery Rock.
Locations for BHS Women’s Care Associates are 127 Oneida Valley Road, Butler, 108 Alwine Road Suite 208, Saxonburg, and 121 Enclave Dr., Suite C, New Castle.
Employees who work at the maternal service program will be offered other positions in the health system.
