Mercedes-Benz Club brings 3-day event to Butler County
Butler County residents may see a few more Mercedes cars on county roads later this week.
The Mercedes-Benz Club of America is planning a three-day “Gemutlichkeit” event to promote camaraderie and friendship among its members. The club’s group, the Western Reserve, will host the biannual event from Thursday to Saturday primarily in the county and the Pittsburgh area.
There will be about 50 vehicles belonging to club members from around the United States and Canada participating, organizer John Morrison said.
Paul Vorbach, owner of Hahn-Vorbach and Associates in Harmony, said he thinks the club picked the right location. He said the region has great roads, good weather and entertaining activities.
“I think they made a good choice in staying in the (area,)” Vorbach said. “I think they’re going to have a great time here.”
After dropping off their luggage at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township, club members will stop at his business to see cars the company is restoring. Vorbach said almost half of the cars his company works on are Mercedes-Benz.
Vorbach will be able to demonstrate his company’s specialty, which is mixing old and new techniques for restorations. Vorbach’s company uses a 3-D printer to make certain small parts such as flanges, emblems and other components.
“We definitely use some pretty cool technology on the restoration side,” he said.
After the tour at Vorbach’s garage, the club will continue that night at the Harmony Inn.
The club also plans to get some autocross running in at Beaver County’s Pitt Race Road Course and to attend the “Concours” Car Show at Hartwood Acres.
Vorbach said the weekend event should be a good time for everyone involved, especially with Harmony’s ties to Germany.
“I’m looking forward to this,” he said. “Hopefully we show them a good time.”
