Woman charged in food stamp case
A Parker woman is accused of fraudulently receiving federal food stamps while she worked for the United States Postal Service.
The Pennsylvania Inspector General’s office on Tuesday charged Vivian Wolfe, 34, with a first-degree misdemeanor count of illegally obtaining Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
Investigators said Wolfe, in applying for and obtaining public benefits at the Butler County Assistance Office in Butler in 2012 and 2013, failed to disclose that she was employed.
At that time, Wolfe worked at the Parker Post Office in Armstrong County.
She no longer works there, an official at the post office said Friday.
According to court documents, Wolfe between Jan. 1 and July 31, 2013, received $2,313 in benefits for which she was not entitled.
Wolfe’s preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 21 at the office of District Judge Pete Shaffer in Butler. She could not be reached for comment.
