HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office says it’s still reviewing the status of a top aide who faces suspension after being charged with snooping on e-mails to help his boss keep tabs on a grand jury investigation.

A spokesman says Supervisory Special Agent Patrick Reese’s status was unchanged Friday.

State ethics rules require state workers be sidelined when charged with a crime related to their employment. The conduct code applies to employees, not the elected Kathleen Kane.

It’s been a week since the 47-year-old Reese was charged. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a contempt charge and was released on $5,000 unsecured bond pending a Sept. 9 trial.

He faces up to six months in jail and a mandatory firing if convicted.

Kane hasn’t entered a plea to charges she leaked secret grand jury to embarrass an ex-prosecutor.
