Moniteau hires new security company

CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School Board on Monday night approved SSIS Agency of Pittsburgh to provide school security for the district during the 2015-16 school year.

The agency will replace Security Services, the company that provided security for the district for the past school year.

Superintendent George Svolos said he anticipates a cost savings without a decrease in service.

The board also approved an upgrade for security cameras at Moniteau High School. All of the outdoor cameras and some of the indoor cameras will be replaced. All other indoor cameras will be serviced.

“It's our commitment to student and staff safety,” Svolos said.

He said the new cameras will provide higher quality footage.

High school principal Lance Fox said the new cameras will have longer memories as well.

At Dassa McKinney Elementary School, installation of security cameras is in progress.

Those cameras will monitor entrances, exits, hallways and parking areas.

“We're keeping safety first,” said Dassa McKinney principal Nicole Fox.
