HARMONY — The Seneca Valley School District is 50 years old this year, and district officials will celebrate that anniversary throughout the 2015-16 school year.

Linda Andreassi, communications director for the district, said there will be a recognition of the anniversary at the first home football game on Sept. 11. The district will schedule events during the year, and there will be an alumni directory to be published in a few months.

During the first semester, officials will create a time capsule to bury. It is set to be opened on the district’s 100th anniversary, she said.

The time capsule will include items such as a picture of the Class of 2015, artifacts from the nine facilities, the new district logo that was created for the 50th anniversary, athletic items and possibly newspapers.

She encourages the Class of 1965 members and other alumni to share with the district their stories of their time at Seneca Valley and what they have done since graduation.

Alumni interested in sharing their stories can contact Andreassi either at andreassill@svsd.net or by calling 724-452-6040, Ext. 1612.

“It is going to be a great year,” she said.
