Free Outdoor Discovery programs, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, are Thursdays at Alameda Park. Today's program is Creek Creatures at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. Trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Call 724-794-6011.

Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, has trails open from dawn to dusk. Visit www.aswp.org.

Nautical Nature, a 37-passenger enclosed pontoon boat at Moraine State Park has trips on Lake Arthur. Cost is $35 for two people, $60 for a family of four. Reservations are required. Call 724-368-9185 or visit www.morainepreservationfund.org.

McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County off Route 422, has the gristmill open through the end of September from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Interpretive tours are available at 1 and 3 p.m. Tours for groups may be scheduled by calling the Moraine State Park office at 724 368-8811.
