BUFFALO TWP — Traffic along Route 28 will shift lanes on Monday for paving work, the state Department of Transportation said.

The right lanes in both north and south directions will close. The left lanes in both directions had been closed for repairs.

The stretch of road spans from the Allegheny and Butler County line to Iron Bridge Road.

Work includes milling, patching and paving. While work in the right lane is being completed, milling and paving on the ramps to Route 356 will be done during the night, according to PennDOT.

Concrete patching will be done under the Route 356 overpass under 24 hour work periods.

This $2.1 million project is being done by Derry Construction, and it is expected to be completed in October.

BUTLER TWP — Preston Park will host a free building workshop for children from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 15.It will feature building bug boxes or bird houses, and is limited to the first 50 children to register.All ages are welcome, and people should register with Butler Township by Aug. 14 by calling 724-283-3430, Ext. 212.The event is sponsored by Butler Home Depot.

JEFFERSON TWP — South Butler School District's spokesman and transportation director has taken a position with the Allegheny League of Municipalities.Jason Davidek, who's been with the school district since 2009, will leave at the end of August.He'll become executive director for the Pittsburgh-based group.Davidek also has served as a Fawn Township supervisor in Allegheny County.“It's a really unique opportunity to blend my experience,” he said of the new role.Davidek is married with a 10-month-old daughter.Street cleaning restricts parkingParking will be prohibited from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday on the following streets to allow for cleaning:Woodland, Wilkens, White, McGuire, Spang, Mackey and Brugh avenues, and South and Hickory streets.
