Driver to be charged in S.R. area crash
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — The driver of an SUV that collided with a pickup truck Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 8 and Branchton Road will be charged with a stop sign violation.
Melissa Henthorn, 41, of Brady Township was traveling east on Branchton Road in her 2012 Ford Expedition — with her three young children — when she collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram traveling north on Route 8 driven by 63-year-old Thomas Grossman of Brady Township at 8 a.m.
State police said their investigation has indicated Henthorn is at fault and will receive a summary violation.
State police investigator Lt. Eric Hermick said as of now, it does not look like gross negligence was involved in the accident.
“Right now, she’s facing a traffic violation,” Helmick said.
Grossman was partially ejected from his vehicle. He was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was in serious condition today.
Henthorn was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian, where she was in good condition today.
The children’s injuries were described as minor. Hermick said they were checked out at the scene and released to their father. He said he was not sure if their father took them for further evaluation.
