Clarence William "Bill" Worley

C. William “Bill” Worley, 94, of Timberly Heights, Butler, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Butler, he was the son of Robert Leroy Worley and Lelia Irene (Stitt) Worley.

Mr. Worley was a member of North Street Christian Church. He was employed by Castle Rubber Co. as a foreman and retired in 1982 after 41 years of service.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending the winter months of his retirement in Florida. He was a 1937 graduate of Butler High School.

Mr. Worley was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Force, where he attained the rank of A5 stripe tech sergeant. He graduated from cryptographic school and, subsequently, spent his military years working in the code room of the 7th Air Force handling secret material and encoding or decoding military information. He was honorably discharged in June of 1945.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jane Worley, who he married June 3, 1946.Mr. Worley is survived by two daughters, Nancy Jane Vogel of Allison Park and Donna L. (Larry) Crayne of Upper St. Clair; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Madey of Peters Township, David (Vanessa) Crayne of Upper St. Clair and Stephanie (Dr. Michael) Myers of Wheeling, W.Va.; and six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Taylor and Grace Madey, Roxanne Crayne and Case and Emersyn Myers.

WORLEY — Friends of C. William “Bill” Worley, who died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Huber, pastor of North Street Christian Church, officiating.
