Carl Willard Cooper
Carl Willard Cooper, 88, of Worth Township, Slippery Rock, passed away Sunday at Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer.
He was born in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County, on March 5, 1927, to Cody Culdane Cooper and Myrtle Letitia Frazier Cooper. He married Sheila Anne Moore Dec. 20, 1946, and she recently passed away May 30, 2015.
Carl graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1945. Carl along with his wife, Sheila, owned and operated a farm in Worth Township.
Carl was a member of West Liberty United Presbyterian Church, where he previously served as an elder and had taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Worth Grange and various farming organizations.
He and Sheila enjoyed traveling in their motor home, and they visited nearly every state in the United States except Rhode Island.
Survivors include four sons, Philip D. and his wife, Martha Cooper of Slippery Rock; Eugene A. and his wife, Debra Cooper of Portersville; Leslie C. and his wife, Kathleen Cooper of Wasco, Calif.; and Roger S. Cooper of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, Jennifer A. and her husband, Christopher Fleeger; Jill S. and her husband, Andrew Matta; Jaime L. and her husband, Brian Slamecka; Matthew G. and his wife, Krystal Cooper; Megan E. and her husband, Cody Seibel, and Ethan R. Cooper; and three great-grandchildren, Mikayla June and Miranda Alane Fleeger and Audrey Shyla Cooper.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and one infant sister, Dorothy Mae Cooper.
COOPER — The family of Carl Willard Cooper, who died Sunday, June 21, 2015, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Claire Megles, chaplain from Gentiva Hospice.
