Shirley Mawhinney

Shirley Mawhinney, 46, of Wampum Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born March 28, 1969, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. Richard and Marjorie Twentier Richard of Harmony.

She was married to Thomas Mawhinney Jr., who passed away in 2007 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Shirley enjoyed camping and motorcycle riding. She also enjoyed watching her soap operas and her Jack Russell Terrier, “Ryder.”

In addition to her mother, Marjorie, survivors include one daughter, Brittany Richard of Portersville; one son, Coltin Mawhinney of Ellwood City; one sister, Theresa (Norman) Boots of Ellwood City; and one brother, Eric (Anesa) Richard of Portersville.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Charles L. Richard; and her grandparents, Harry and Mildred Twentier, Leonard Richard and Sylvia Richard Neely.

MAWHINNEY — A memorial service for Shirley Mawhinney, who died Thursday, June 18, 2015, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of God, Ellwood City, with the Rev.
