Free Outdoor Discovery programs, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, take place Thursdays at Alameda Park. Tonight’s program is SurfSup Adventures at 7 p.m. at the Alameda Waterpark. The program July 30 is Honey Heroes at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host EYE Con Summer Science Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 3 to 7. Registration is required. Call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will have “Owl Prowl” from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Meet outside the park office on the South Shore. Take a flashlight. A kayak fishing program is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at Bear Run Boat Launch, South Shore. Call 814-683-5126 for kayak program registration.

Star parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh are to begin, weather permitting, at 8:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, has the gristmill open through the end of September from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Interpretive tours are available at 1 and 3 p.m. Tours for groups may be scheduled by calling the Moraine State Park office 724 368-8811.
