Free Outdoor Discovery programs, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, take place Thursdays at Alameda Park. Tonight’s program is SurfSup Adventures at 7 p.m. at the Alameda Waterpark. The program July 30 is Honey Heroes at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter.

Star parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh are to begin, weather permitting, at 8:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.
McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, has the gristmill open through the end of September from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
