Mars Shortline Railroad has tiny train rides available. Weather permitting, adults and children can catch rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays through September at the Mars History and Landmark Society’s restored small scale B&O train station south of downtown at 1 Brickyard Road. The Old Stone House will again be the site of “Foodways Programs,” a series of summer-fall cooking classes. Classes run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bake oven classes are available Aug. 15 and Sept. 19. Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St., hosts “Innovating for Victory,” focusing on how Pittsburgh’s industrial might impacted the Allied victory during World War II, on Saturday in conjunction with the museum’s new We Can Do It!
