John E. Holtz

John E. Holtz, 94, of Harrisville passed away at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

A son of John C. and Anna Ihk Holtz, he was born June 7, 1921, in Chicago. John attended Mt. Vernon School in Chicago.

He had been employed as a heating plant operator at Grove City College and later at Slippery Rock University.

John was a longtime member of the Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church of America.

With a love of tinkering and a proficiency in electrical work, John was able to help many with appliance and light repairs. He enjoyed model railroading, and he and Emma traveled to see many scenic railways.

On June 26, 1948, he married the former Emma Kiester, who survives along with two sons, Martin Holtz and his wife, Jennifer, of St. Louis, Mo., and George Holtz and his wife, Sue, of Slippery Rock, and a sister, Helen Schwartz of Cottage Grove, Minn. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannette Spousta and two brothers, Edward and Albert Holtz.

HOLTZ — Friends of John E. Holtz, who died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
