Elizabeth I. Janis

Elizabeth I. “Betty” McCombs Janis, 78, of Economy Borough passed away Monday in the comfort of her home.

Born in Richland Township, Pa., on Oct. 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Viola Ann Harris McCombs.

A homemaker, Betty had been a data entry clerk for Mars Mineral and Herr-Voss in Callery. She was a former member of the Connoquenessing Country Club.

Surviving are her husband, Alexander P. “Alex” Janis, who she married on May 2, 1959; two daughters, Linda K. Janis of Zelienople and Theresa E. Janis-Goudie (Robert) of Reston, Va.; one son, Michael S. Janis of Poland, Ohio; two grandsons, Christopher and Andrew Janis; and one great-granddaughter, Amber Janis.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary McCombs-Brandt, and two brothers, James and George McCombs.
