Ryan Fennell did his best to make sure Saxonburg didn’t fall to last-place Freeport in Eagle County action Thursday night at Butler County Community College.

Fennell doubled in Dustin Lalle in the ninth inning to give Saxonburg a walk-off 4-3 win.

Freeport tied the game when John Fetchko hit a two-run double in the seventh. That spoiled a strong outing from Saxonburg starter Tim Devine, who allowed two hits in eight innings of work.

Scott Lumley threw all nine innings for Freeport, striking out three batters. Andy Fritz also drove in a run for Saxonburg (13-12).

Brandon Wissinger worked a scoreless ninth to earn the win.

Zelienople 3, Pine-Richland 2 — Zelienople made three first-inning runs stand up for a win over Pine-Richland on the road.

Tad Forsythe doubled in two runs for Zelienople, while John Kiser brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Dave Shaffer earned the win, striking out six batters in seven innings of work for Zelienople (7-18-1). Pine-Richland scored both of its runs in the fourth inning.
