Driver charged in wrong-way crash

LIGONIER, — State police have arrested the driver of a van involved in a wrong-way, head-on crash that killed a police lieutenant in Western Pennsylvania.

Police have said 32-year-old Clair Fink III, of Ligonier, was driving his employer’s about 2 a.m. May 5 when he went against traffic on U.S. Route 30.

Ligonier Township Lt. Eric Eslary was killed when his SUV was hit by the van.

According to a search warrant, Fink’s co-worker has told police he and Fink most of an 18-pack of beer in the hours before the crash.

It wasn’t immediately clear what charges Fink faces.

Trooper Steven Limani, a state police spokesman, announced Fink’s arrest Thursday and said he would be arraigned later in the day.

Autopsy: Nurse drowned in river

PITTSBURGH — An autopsy shows a Pittsburgh nurse who went missing after leaving a bar with friends in December had drowned.

Pittsburgh police say the chief medical examiner in West Virginia made that determination Wednesday.

That’s where 22-year-old Paul Kochu’s body was found in the Ohio River in March.

Pittsburgh police say the medical examiner found nothing suspicious about Kochu’s death, and police don’t plan to investigate it further.

Kochu’s body was found March 20 near Wheeling, West Virginia.
