Shirley Jean Johnston, 80, of Mars passed away on Sunday under the care of the VNA Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis George Welsh and Jenny Margaret McKown.

Shirley was a member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church. She and her family operated the Johnston House and Johnston Soft Serv. She also worked at Butler Savings and Loan.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, John A. Johnston and Terri L. Francis, both of Mars; her three grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew and Joshua Johnston; her niece, Margaret Louise Fabris; and two nephews, Gary and Roger Welsh.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Johnston, who passed away in 1998, and two brothers, Francis George Welsh and Robert Craig.

JOHNSTON — The family of Shirley Jean Johnston, who died Sunday, June 14, 2015, will welcome friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.

A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park.
