SAXONBURG — The South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will close at 5 p.m. July 23 for the annual Firemen’s Parade.

The library will participate in the parade this year. Those who made puppets, masks or capes at any of the library’s superhero summer reading programs can march in the parade. To confirm participation and for more details, contact 724-352-4810 or mwilliams@southbutlerlibrary.org.

Children must be accompanied by an adult in the parade.

[naviga:h3]Lyme disease, tick program set[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — The South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St. will offer a program on outdoor safety focusing on tick bites and Lyme disease at 6:30 p.m. July 28.

The rates of Lyme disease and tick bites are extraordinarily high this summer, especially in Butler County. The Butler County Board of Health presentation will describe ways to stay safe this summer.

[naviga:h3]Safe driving courses offered[/naviga:h3]

Seniors for Safe Driving will host the following classes for those age 55 and older:

Noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 4, Butler Senior Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 21, Butler Memorial Hospital

Seniors completing the course will receive a 5 percent reduction in their automobile insurance premiums for three years.
