Comcast launches outdoor Wi-Fi spotsCARLISLE — Comcast announced that it has launched up to 1,800 outdoor Wi-Fi hot spots throughout Pennsylvania, making the company the largest Wi-Fi provider in the state.Bob Grove, vice president of public relations of the Keystone region for Comcast Cable, says the installation of the outdoor hot spots began in March and April.Currently, 40 hot spots were installed in both the Mechanicsburg and Camp Hill areas.Grove says hot spots are also available in Lemoyne, New Cumberland and East Pennsboro Township. Another 1,500 more are expected by the end of the year.Officials say the hot spots will be located in “high traffic locations” such as parks, universities and commuter stations.The hot spots are available for Comcast Xfinity customers only, but nonsubscribers can access them twice a month for one hour, free.

Woman, 31, killed house fire in EtnaETNA — Authorities have identified a woman killed in a house fire, while her sister who survived believes her sibling may have perished trying to rescue some pets.Allegheny County authorities say the dead woman is 31-year-old Stephanie Krulia.The county fire marshal was trying to figure out what started the blaze in the home she shared with her sister, 33-year-old Christy Claypoole. Claypoole jumped from a window onto a storage shed which helped break her fall, but Krulia couldn’t get out.The fire was reported about 10 p.m. Saturday in Etna.

Driver just misses hitting helicopterMOUNT LEBANON — A 50-year-old Georgia man is in custody after police say he narrowly missed crashing his vehicle into a medical helicopter preparing to lift off from a hospital.Mount Lebanon police say Eric Logan was suffering from a “mental health issue” when he charged St. Clair Hospital’s ground-level helipad Sunday at a high speed, stopping inches from the helicopter carrying a 12-hour-old infant for transport.Police say hospital security was able to subdue Logan after he exited his vehicle and appeared to be running toward the helicopter’s pilot. Police arrived on scene and arrested Logan.After allegedly making “erratic statements” to officers, police secured an involuntary mental health commitment at the hospital for Logan. He remained under observation Sunday.
