Park set to host events this week

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will host several events this week at Alameda Park, 184 Alameda Park Road.

The Family Summer Concert Series will feature the blues band Eugene and the Night Crawlers at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Odd Fellows Gazebo.

School pride day will be Wednesday at Alameda Waterpark. Students of the Butler School District wearing a school logo or showing a school ID will receive half off water park admission.

Alameda Story Adventures for children age 6 and younger will feature more from “Charlotte’s Web” from 11:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Rotary Shelter.

The Outdoor Discovery Series will present PaWASR, a survival skills program featuring a rescue dog demonstration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carousel Shelter.

“Annie” will be the Moonlight Swim and Dive-In Movie from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at Alameda Waterpark. There will be a fee for non-members.

UFO sightings will be discussed

SAXONBURG — Members of the Butler Organization for Research of the Unexplained will recount purported UFO and alien sightings in Butler County at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St.

The event is free and open to the public.

Genealogy group sets picnic

PROSPECT — The annual picnic of the Butler County Genealogical Society will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the basement of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 143 Church St.

Take a casserole, salad or dessert to share and a place setting. Chicken and beverages will be provided.

After dinner, the Guenthers will give a talk on the history of the church, followed by the traditional cemetery game.

Fair-trade shop opens this week

ZELIENOPLE — Artisan Marketplace, a fair-trade gift shop at 134-B S. Main St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday to July 18 during Horse Trading Days.

The shop offers handmade gifts from artisans around the world. Other merchandise includes coffees, jams, spices and chocolates.

The shop is a mission of the Beaver Butler Presbyterian Women

Church slates flea market

SLIPPERY ROCK — There will be a community flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 18 at Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, 130 Franklin St. For more information, call Paul at 724-421-7182.

Country Kitchen workers to reunite

ZELIENOPLE — A reunion of Country Kitchen employees , Butler location, from 1971 to 1981 will be at 3:30 p.m. July 19 at the Zelienople Kountry Kitchen, 111 S. Main St.

Take old photos and a salad or dessert. Other food will be provided.
