Frederick Michael Doerr

Frederick Michael Doerr, 64, of Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1950, in New Castle to Richard LeRoy Doerr and Garnet Mae McCandless Doerr.

He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served for 13 years including in Vietnam, and he was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.

He drove a truck for various companies.

He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church where he had been active in the choir. He sang with A.C.T.S (Adoring Christ through Song), enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour books, was interested in military history and watched John Wayne movies.

He is survived by his mother, Garnet Mae Doerr Stahlman of Grove City; two sons, Michael Weaver of Garland, Texas, and Keith Weaver of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren, Christopher and Corrianne; one sister, Sharon G. Doerr of Slippery Rock; and three brothers, Robert W. and wife, Lynn, of Volant, Terry L. and Mark R. Doerr, both of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his father.

DOERR — Friends of Frederick Michael Doerr, who died Sunday, June 7, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.Funeral services will be received at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church 130 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Keith McIlwain, pastor of the church, presiding. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to benefit Polycystic Kidney Disease research at walkforpkd.org. or the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.
