William L. Dawson

William “Bill” L. Dawson, 60, of Chicora passed away at 2:26 p.m. Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an illness.

Born Oct. 24, 1954, in Butler, he was the son of late William Henry Dawson and the late Lucille Thoma Dawson.

He was U.S. Air Force veteran, proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War and achieving the rank of E-2.

He retired from the Commonwealth Utilities (CUECO) in Butler after 25 years as an electrician.

He was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Carbon Center. He was also a member of the Chicora American Legion and the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hosler Dawson, who he married Aug. 2, 1986; his daughters, Pamela Hosler of Chicora, Billie Jean Dawson of Baton Rouge, La., and Mary Ann Dawson of Chicora; his son, William Henry Dawson II of Chicora; his grandchildren, Zoe, Abby, Stacey, Kandace, Raeleigh and Trenton; his brothers, Ralph Dawson of Dallas, Texas, and Larry and Debbie Dawson of Herman; his sister, Janice and Dan Neff of Chicora; and a number of nieces and nephews.

DAWSON — A celebration of life for William “Bill” L. Dawson, who died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, will be at 3 p.m. on Bill's favorite day, Saturday, July 4, at the family residence in Chicora.Arrangements are handled by the Steighner Funeral Home in Chicora.For more information, please visit www.steighnerfuneralhome.com.
