Penguins acquire Phil Kessel in trade
PITTSBURGH — The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded Phil Kessel to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
According to Sportsnet, Toronto will get center Nick Spaling, forward Kasperi Kapanen, defenseman Scott Harrington and a pair of draft picks. The full details of the deal are still to be unveiled.
Kessel, 27, is entering the second year of an eight-year contract that carries an average cap hit of $8 million per season.
Kessel had 25 goals last season.
