A section of West New Castle Street between Mercer and Chestnut streets will close today as crews begin to work on a bridge replacement project.

A detour will be in place using Mercer Street to West Brady Street to North Chestnut Street. The road closure will be in place until October as crews replace the existing bridge with a box culvert, with drainage and guide rail upgrades.

The bridge replacement project is being done by Carmen Paliotta Contracting.
