John Yellenik
John Andrew Yellenik, 68, of Butler passed away May 18 at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Aug. 24, 1946, in Butler, the son of the late John J. and Mary (Smaretsky) Yellenik.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Oak Hills Christian Church and a Mason from Wm. H. Miller Lodge. He was an avid Corvette fan who owned several over the years. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, garage sales and collecting antique furniture. He was an amateur photographer and did stained glass work and calligraphy.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Geneva College.
John retired from the Pressure Chemical Co. in January 2015.
Surviving are his wife, Glenna (Barr) Yellenik of Butler; one daughter, Jodi (Jason) Byers of Shelocta, Pa.; his granddaughters, Kaylee and Kenzie Byers; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and brother and sisters-in-law.
