Janie L. Franklin

Janie L. Franklin, 64, of Sarver passed away Saturday at her home.

Born Sept. 26, 1950, in Natrona Heights, Harrison Township, she was the daughter of James T. Young and Esther I. Thompson Young.

Janie had worked for Moonlight Mushrooms, VA Butler Healthcare and was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1973 to 1993.

She attended the Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church. She was member of the American Legion, life member of the Sarver Vets Club, VA Butler Healthcare Women Veterans, Air Force Sergeant's Association, life member of the Retired Enlisted Association, member of the Women's Memorial and life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 64. She enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her family and friends and was a Girl Scout leader.

Surviving are her brothers, Paul J. (Cathy) Young of Arizona and John R. (Gloria) Young of Sarver; her sisters, Delores “Dorrie” Young of Sarver and Joanne E. Harrity of Sarver; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack Franklin, in 2000.

FRANKLIN — Friends of Janie L. Franklin, who died Saturday, May 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Airy Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the DAV General Butler 64, P.O.
