Florence M. Stephenson

Florence M. Stephenson, 89, of Butler passed away Thursday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born March 1, 1926, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Rappa) Sheppeck.

After graduating from high school, she was employed as a secretary in the receiving office of the Bantam Car Manufacturing Co. She then went to work at Butler County Community College as a secretary for the counseling center for 13 years, from 1972 to 1985. She then was a homemaker.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, gardening and baking. She also enjoyed the Steelers and Pirates games, vacationing in Myrtle Beach and family holidays and get-togethers.

She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Surviving are her son, Gary (Sandra) Stephenson of Erie, Pa.; her daughter, Regina (Frank) Puschnigg of Latrobe, Pa.; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Stephenson, who she married Oct. 19, 1946, at the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora; her son, Daniel J. Stephenson; eight brothers and three sisters.

STEPHENSON — Friends of Florence M. Stephenson, who died Thursday, May, 21, 2015, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Interment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
