A new playground at Rotary Park on West Cunningham Street in Butler is nearly complete.

Councilman Bill May said the playground equipment is installed and a half-court basketball surface will be finished this coming week.

“I put a lot of thought into the court,” said May, who heads the city parks department. “It’s big enough to allow for an entire 3-point zone.”

May said the playground includes two swings, slides and other areas for children to play.

“It’s a great piece of equipment,” he said.

The playground’s location at Rotary Park makes it easily accessible to children.

“Council felt that area of the city was in need of a new playground,” May said. “We wanted the kids to have a safe place to play and have fun.”
